The online form, which replaces the previously suspended paper-based version, aims to streamline entry processes and enhance tourist safety.
Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports has announced plans to implement a digital TM6 immigration form starting 1 May 2025.
As reported by Bangkok Post, the online form will replace the previously suspended paper-based version, with its suspension period officially ending on 30 April 2025.
It will be compulsory for all foreign arrivals to Thailand by air, land, or sea, but it will remain free of charge.
The TM6 immigration form was temporarily suspended by the Thai cabinet on 15 April 2024, with the suspension later extended in October. As further reported by Bangkok Post, Natthriya Thaweevong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, stated that the online form is expected to help with tracking tourists during their stay in the country, in a move to build more confidence towards safety in Thailand.
Mongkon Wimonrat, the Ministry's Deputy Permanent Secretary, added that the government will "prioritise the digital TM6 before it looks into adopting other types of entry screening that were previously planned, to prevent confusion among tourists. He also stressed that the online TM6 applies only to foreign arrivals, per the Bangkok Post report.
"The cabinet is expected to approve the scheme next month to allow related parties to prepare," he was quoted as saying.
Other pre-screening measures, such as the electronic travel authorisation and the THB300 tourism fee, are expected to be delayed to ensure the TM6 system operates seamlessly.
