Its aircraft and human resources will be consolidated into ANA brand's operations to expand the Group’s international business.
Hybrid international carrier AirJapan has ended all flight operations on 28 March 2026, following its parent company ANA Group’s decision to restructure its brand strategy.
According to an official statement released by ANA Group in 2025, AirJapan’s aircraft and human resources will be consolidated into the ANA brand's operations as the Group seeks to expand its international business.
AirJapan President & CEO Hideki Mineguchi said the brand was suspended due to changes “in terms of the global situation and the environment surrounding the airline industry”, with ANA Group citing challenges such as the prolonged war in Ukraine and delays in aircraft deliveries.
The Group added that AirJapan will continue to operate international flights under the ANA brand, with efforts focused on enhancing ANA routes across Asia and Oceania.
AirJapan’s final flight – from Singapore to Narita Airport – took off in the early morning of 29 March 2026.
Established in 1990 as an ANA Group company operating international charter flights, the airline adopted the name Air Japan in 2000 as it operated regular international passenger flights.
In February 2024, it began operating as a standalone brand, AirJapan, positioned between a full service and low-cost model as ANA Group's hybrid carrier. Since then, AirJapan has steadily captured inbound demand through three main routes: Narita-Bangkok, Narita-Seoul, and Narita-Singapore.
With AirJapan’s discontinuation, ANA Group has transitioned from a multi-brand approach to a dual-brand strategy, centred on ANA and Peach brands to strengthen the overall Group's profitability and competitiveness.
