At the helm: Jason Varsamidis takes on CEO and MD role at DP World Asia Pacific

Varsamidis will oversee DP World's ports, terminals, and logistics businesses across 22 geographies, bringing nearly 30 years of experience with the company and former P&O Ports.

DP World has named Jason Varsamidis as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of its Asia Pacific region.

In his new role, Varsamidis will lead the company's portfolio of ports, terminals and logistics businesses across 22 geographies, covering a workforce of more than 12,000 employees. He will focus on regional strategy and operational performance, strengthening end-to-end supply chains and expanding DP World's integrated logistics capabilities.

He joined the then P&O Ports in 1997 and brings close to three decades of experience with the business.

Based in Sydney, Australia, Varsamidis most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of DP World Asia Pacific from 2020, where he was credited for playing a central role in shaping the region's strategy, investment agenda, and business performance. Before that, he was Chief Financial Officer of DP World Australia for seven years.

His experience also includes overseeing mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure projects and business turnaround programmes.

Commenting on the appointment, Yuvraj Narayan, Group CEO, DP World, lauded Varsamidis for his deep understanding of the business and the markets in which it operates. His track record and commercial experience, Narayan added, positioned him to lead Asia Pacific, which he described as one of the company's key growth engines.

Narayan also noted that the appointment would provide continuity for the business while keeping the focus on strategic priorities, customers and employees.

Varsamidis said he was honoured to lead DP World in Asia Pacific, citing the business's strong capabilities, talented people, and opporunities across the region.

He added: “I'll work closely with our leadership team and colleagues to maintain momentum, deliver for our customers and partners, and keep advancing our strategic priorities.”

DP World Asia Pacific will announce arrangements for the Chief Financial Officer role separately.
