Continued growth in median gross monthly salaries for SIT graduates in 2023

According to the latest Graduate Employment Survey, nine in 10 graduates gained employment within six months of graduation — showcasing strong employment outcomes.

Graduates of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) have enjoyed a steady increase in salaries since becoming an autonomous university.

Since its first Graduate Employment Survey of graduates from SIT-conferred programmes in 2017, the median gross monthly salary earned by graduates has grown from S$3,200 to reach S$4,000 in 2023, and mean gross monthly salary has risen from S$3,350 to S$4,209.

Notably, graduates from the infocomm technology (ICT) programmes continue to earn high starting salaries, likely as a result of Singapore's strong demand for tech talent. More specifically, fresh graduates in the ICT (Information security) degree programme recorded the highest salaries, with a median gross monthly salary of S$5,200. This was followed by ICT (Software engineering) and Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation graduates, at a median gross monthly salary of S$5,000. The full list of median gross monthly income for ICT graduates are as follows:

  • ICT (Information security) - S$5,200
  • Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation - S$5,000
  • ICT (Software engineering) - S$5,000
  • Computer science and game design - S$4,900
  • Computing science - S$4,800

On the other hand, offshore engineering graduates from the engineering cluster also recorded a rise in median gross monthly income to S$4,200, compared to S$3,675 in 2022. Other highlights in the cluster include:

  • Marine engineering graduates earned S$4,400, up from S$3,900 in 2022,
  • Naval architecture graduates earned S$4,450, up from S$4,000 in 2022.

Lastly, pharmaceutical engineering graduates from the food, chemical and biotechnology cluster witnessed an increase in their median gross monthly income from S$3,955 in 2022 to S$4,150 in 2023.

The survey also revealed strong employment outcomes. As a whole, nine in 10 graduates found employment within six months of graduation, with eight in 10 securing full-time permanent (FTP) employment.

In particular, graduates from following the health and social sciences programmes achieved 100% overall employment within six months after graduation:

  • Diagnostic radiography
  • Dietetics and nutrition (pioneer batch of graduates)
  • Occupational therapy graduates

SIT President Professor Chua Kee Chaing commented: "Our university’s holistic approach to nurturing active learning in authentic learning environments through our applied learning pedagogy is consistently producing graduates who meet the demands of industry.

"As we celebrate 10 years as an autonomous university, we look forward to working more closely with industry to nurture work-ready talent who thrive in the dynamic world of work."
