Faces of HR: Siam Piwat Group’s Nuttawut Kietchaiyakorn on why future-ready leadership starts with purpose and meaning

Nuttawut Kietchaiyakorn stresses that building future-ready leaders requires more than skills. It calls for purpose, continuous development, and a mindset prepared for change.

For Nuttawut Kietchaiyakorn, Chief Business Resources – Human Resources at Siam Piwat Group, true leadership begins with a clear sense of purpose, creating meaningful work that drives fulfilment for individuals and sustainable growth.

With over 20 years of experience spanning consulting, logistics, and communications, Nuttawut has seen first-hand how purpose can unlock people’s full potential. Today, he plays a central role in transforming Siam Piwat, the owner and operator behind world-class destinations such as Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery, into a future-ready organisation with a modern corporate culture.

“I place great importance on value and purpose. I believe that when people work with a clear sense of both, it leads to self-actualisation driving them to create meaningful work and experience a sense of fulfilment in life," he says.

This belief continues to shape his leadership journey as he empowers Siam Piwat’s people to discover their own potential while contributing to Thailand’s most iconic landmarks.

Having gained recognition for his leadership, Nuttawut is now focused on helping organisations rethink how they develop talent.

As he prepares to take the stage at #TransformTalentTH, Nuttawut reflects on the shifts reshaping HR and the need to rethink talent development, and how Siam Piwat is preparing its people for the future of work in this interview with Mary Ann Bundukin.

Q Thinking back to your first day in HR, what core belief has shaped your leadership journey until today?

With over 20 years of experience working with large corporations, including consulting firms, global logistics companies, and national communication network organisations, my fulfillment as an HR professional is seeing people use their full potential and achieve success in both their personal lives and careers. I want to bring meaning and value to each and every day of their lives, while also contributing to the development of more capable and impactful leaders in Thailand.

I am now dedicated to empowering Siam Piwat personnel to realise their full potential, discover greater value and sense of purpose, bring meaning to their work every single day to continuing create Thailand’s world-class landmarks.

I place great importance on value and purpose. I believe that when people work with a clear sense of both, it leads to self-actualisation driving them to create meaningful work and experience a sense of fulfillment in life.

Q In your view, what must organisations do differently today to transform their talent into the future-ready leaders their business truly needs?

In my opinion, “future-ready leadership” is critically important because from now on the context of business and work will change drastically and become increasingly difficult to predict. Therefore, ongoing development of future-ready leaders is essential in terms of their mindset, skill set, and experience set.

It is necessary that organisations rethink and redesign the way they develop talents today. This requires a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional talent development programs. Development should be continuous and seamlessly integrated into everyday work in the modern era, which includes project-based work that stretches individual boundaries, opportunities to learn anytime and anywhere, and peers and coaches learning. All of these elements are essential in paving the way toward clear and sustainable career growth in the future.

Siam Piwat is an opportunity platform that fosters growth for every employee, enabling access to essential skill development anytime, anywhere with globally recognised principles and content. The company emphasises empowerment and commitment to excellence, encouraging talents to engage in strategic projects that enhance their experience and foster new skills beyond their current roles.

Additionally, the company regularly communicates and updates on the overall business landscape and global best practices to build understanding and maintain awareness of ongoing changes among employees.

Q Looking ahead, which emerging trends do you believe will redefine the role of HR in the next few years?

From my perspective, there are emerging trends that HR professionals should be paying close attention to:

AI: The emergence of AI requires HR to develop workforce planning and development planning to prepare for new ways of working in the future.

DEI: Diversity in organisations is increasing not just in terms of generations, but in the sense that each employee is becoming more individualistic. This presents challenges in collaboration, alignment, and organisational culture.

Agile & skill over job: Business transformations are pushing employees to constantly adapt their ways of working. Jobs are becoming less important than skills, and HR must understand where employees’ skills lie and what skills are for organisation in driving the business forward.

Wellbeing: Employees increasingly expect organisations to take care of their wellbeing. The workplace is no longer just a place to work, but a place to live. HR must design wellbeing initiatives for employees both at an overall level and tailored to specific segments.

Q As a speaker at #TransformTalentTH, what key message or call-to-action do you hope your session will leave with attendees?

I hope this session will be an opportunity to share experiences and learn together about how Thai organisations develop leaders and talents, using Siam Piwat’s approach as an example, especially in building a purpose-driven organisation and driving it to become a future-ready organisation.
