Infineon's RM28bn investment in Malaysia in line with semiconductor supply chain aspirations

This aligns with the National Investment Aspiration (NIA) and the focus under the 2023 New Industrial Master Plan, which aims to attract high-tech and high-value investment.

On 23 July 2023 (Sunday), Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had a meeting with Chief Operating Officer of Infineon Technologies AG, Dr. Rutger Wijburg to discuss the business operations and expansion of Infineon in Malaysia.

Malaysia is an important hub for Infineon with three wafer fabrication modules in Kulim, and chip semiconductor packaging operations in Melaka, as such, the company has made an investment of RM28bn in Malaysia to date. This is further supported by its longstanding business relations where Infineon has been operating in Malaysia for 50 years (since 1973).

In a Facebook post by PM Anwar shared, "Infineon's continued confidence in Malaysia's investment ecosystem reflects Malaysia's important position in the global semiconductor supply chain sector."

This sentiment aligns with the National Investment Aspiration (NIA) and the focus under the New Industrial Master Plan, which aims to attract high-tech and high-value investment for global and domestic economic growth.
