Malaysia's upgraded immigration system to be expanded to more checkpoints from 31 March 2026

The pilot implementation will be initiated in Senai International Airport, Johor, Bukit Bunga ICQS Complex, and Puteri Harbour International Ferry Terminal till 30 June 2026, in phases.

The National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) has been expanded to selected locations starting 31 March 2026, said Malaysia's Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN). 

This comes after the pilot phase that ran from September 2025 to February 2026, beginning at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) and Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) in Johor before expanding in stages to five major international airports: KLIA Terminal 1KLIA Terminal 2Penang (Bayan Lepas)Kuching (Sarawak), and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah).

The expanded phase will be implemented on a pilot basis in the following locations during these dates: 

  • 31 March 2026 – Senai International Airport, Johor (Air)
  • 31 May 2026 – Bukit Bunga ICQS Complex (Land)
  • 30 June 2026 – Puteri Harbour International Ferry Terminal (Sea)

Success from the trial period

According to KDN, the trial period saw the success of various initiatives, including the development and launch of the MyNIISe mobile application, the installation of eGate facilities at major international airports, the implementation of QR codes at the country's main entry points such as the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB), the activation of the Advance Passenger Screening System (APSS), the establishment of the National Immigration Command Centre (NICC) in Putrajaya, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu as well as the strengthening of data infrastructure through high-class Data Centre (DC) and Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC).

In addition, the MyNIISe application recorded 1,780,425 downloads with 897,673 registered users, including 616,730 Malaysians and 246,946 Singaporeans as of 17 March 2026. Furthermore, the implementation of the QR code system at BSI and KSAB has also recorded millions of transactions, reflecting the system's ability to manage heavy traveller flow, quickly and efficiently.
