The revised Premium Plan includes full CPF contributions and more frequent bonuses to better support key life milestones and retirement planning.
The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) have announced enhancements to the Premium Plan for Warrant Officers and Specialists (WOSpecs), with changes taking effect from 1 January 2026.
This move comes as part of regular reviews aimed at keeping military career schemes competitive and aligned with the evolving needs of SAF personnel, with the goal of attracting talent to strengthen Singapore’s defence capabilities.
Key updates to the Premium Plan include:
- More frequent cash bonuses will be introduced at early career milestones to better support WOSpecs through key life stages, such as marriage and housing.
- Full Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions will replace the current partial arrangement. These will be paid directly into WOSpecs’ CPF accounts, allowing for earlier and more substantial accumulation of housing and healthcare needs.
- Increased retirement contributions will increase support for career transition post-SAF service, ensuring greater financial assurance at retirement.
Under the enhanced scheme, new WOSpecs who begin their careers with the SAF from 2026 are expected to receive total Premium benefits equivalent to around five years of their last drawn annual salary by the time they retire. This reflects an average 10% increase in overall career earnings at retirement.
The enhancements are designed to better support WOSpecs through key life stages, while providing greater assurance as they prepare for their post-service transitions.
