The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand has called on travellers to either book a direct flight, or plan their trip in advance, as it steps up measures ahead of the peak season.
With the Songkran festival scheduled to take place in mid-April, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has advised travellers making their way to Thailand to "monitor the situation and check the information closely with the airline" amidst the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
In a media release on 30 March, the CAAT said it has been closely monitoring the situation and observed that several airlines in the region have begun resuming limited services on certain routes.
"Airlines based in the UAE have resumed some flights. Meanwhile, some countries that still have restrictions on the use of airspace, such as Bahrain and Kuwait, have deployed neighboring countries as temporary bases of operations and gradually resumed services in a limited manner," it stated.
Keeping this in mind, the CAAT has encouraged travellers to consider choosing a direct flight or plan their trip to Thailand in advance, in order to get the best possible price and travel time.
Regarding travel during the Songkran festival, CAAT said it has stepped up measures to ensure smooth, safe, efficient and adequate, services for travellers, including coordinating with airlines and related aviation agencies throughout the system.
In addition, CAAT recommends purchasing tickets directly through the respective airline's channels, which it said will comply with price regulations and allow airlines to contact passengers directly in the event of a flight change.
However, should passengers experience issues or inadequate care, they may file a complaint with CAAT.
