Up the ranks: Dr. Amit Khanna takes on CHRO role at Jindal (India) Limited

In his new role, Dr. Khanna will focus on strengthening talent management, organisational development, employee engagement and building a future-ready workforce.

BC Jindal Group has appointed Dr. Amit Khanna (pictured above) as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Jindal (India) Limited, the Group’s steel business.

Based in New Delhi, Dr. Khanna will lead the HR and administration function, partnering with the leadership team to align people strategy with business priorities and strengthen organisational capability, talent and culture.

His remit will include talent management, organisation effectiveness, leadership development, employee engagement, performance management and HR transformation. He will also oversee the HR agenda across Jindal India’s two manufacturing plants, with a focus on workforce capability, employee relations, productivity and organisational effectiveness.

The appointment comes as the company continues to grow its operations and expand its manufacturing capabilities.

A spokesperson for the BC Jindal Group said: "We are pleased to welcome Dr. Amit Khanna as the Chief Human Resources Officer of Jindal (India) Limited. As the company continues to expand, building the right talent, capabilities and organisational culture will be critical to supporting our next phase of growth.

"We believe his experience will help strengthen our people practices and create an organisation equipped to support our evolving business requirements."

Dr. Khanna brings HR leadership experience spanning power, IT, telecom, aviation, and now steel and aluminium manufacturing. Before joining Jindal India, he spent nearly 14 years at Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), most recently as AVP and Head HR.

During his time at BIAL, he partnered with the CEO, CXOs, and executive leadership team on enterprise people strategy, organisation and HR transformation, and workforce readiness for major infrastructure initiatives, including Terminal 2 commissioning. His experience also includes leading leadership and talent transformation programmes, accelerating HR digitalisation, and supporting the development of a workforce ecosystem of more than 7,000 people.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Khanna held HR leadership roles at Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, TCS, and NTPC.

Reflecting on his move in a LinkedIn post, he said: "I now look forward to a new chapter with Jindal India, working across its steel and aluminium businesses, with a focus on people, capability, productivity, workforce transformation and business growth."

He added that each chapter of his career journey, working across public and private sector organisations and diverse industries, has "brought its own learning, challenges and opportunities, shaping my journey in unique ways."

"Thank you, God Almighty, for the journey so far. I look forward with gratitude and excitement to the learning, challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."
