50% toll discount for eligible drivers ahead of Aidilfitri weekend in Malaysia

This comes among a series of support measures introduced in the past few days, including an additional day of holiday, price controls, and cash assistance.

In a statement on Tuesday (17 March 2 shared on Bernama Radio’s Facebook page, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the initiatives aim to ensure Malaysians can celebrate the festive season smoothly amid ongoing economic uncertainty.

Key initiatives ahead of Aidilfitri

  1. Additional Aidilfitri leave: Extra leave granted for employees to celebrate with family.
  2. Festive season maximum price scheme: Implemented from 14-28 March 2026 to maintain affordable prices for essential items.
  3. Rahmah cash contribution (STR) Phase 2: Initial payment on 10 March 2026 to 5.2mn recipients, totalling RM1.3bn.
  4. Special financial support: Distributed to civil servants, retirees, veterans, and more than 70,000 religious and education personnel, including imams, bilals, tok siak, nojas, marbuts, and KAFA and takmir teachers.
  5. FLYsiswa flight subsidies: RM400 subsidy extended to students in various higher learning institutions.
  6. Rahmah MADANI Sales Programmes: Nearly 1,900 programmes during Ramadan to ensure adequate supply and reasonable prices.
  7. Ban on sale of subsidised cooking oil to foreigners: Ensures the subsidy benefits Malaysians only.
  8. 50% toll discount: Applies to Class 1 private vehicles on all highways from 12.01 am on 18 March to 11.59 pm on 19 March 2026, excluding Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Toll Plaza (BSI) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza, Malaysia–Singapore Second Link Expressway (LINKEDUA). RM21.03mn allocated to compensate toll concession companies.
  9. Fast Track bankruptcy relief initiative: Around 4,000 individuals, especially single mothers and fathers, will be freed from bankruptcy constraints.

PM Anwar concluded the statement by reminding Malaysians to spend prudently during the Aidilfitri celebrations, given continued global economic uncertainty.
