Temperatures will remain persistently low over the next few mornings. The public is reminded to keep warm and take precautions.
The Hong Kong Observatory has issued special weather tips as a winter monsoon gradually affects the coastal areas of Guangdong. Hong Kong will turn noticeably colder overnight, with the minimum temperature in urban areas expected to drop to around 12°C on the morning of 6 January 2026.
The monsoon is forecast to linger over southern China for an extended period, keeping weather cold through Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Urban areas will see minimum temperatures of about 11°C to 12°C, while the New Territories will be a few degrees lower, with rather large temperature difference between day and night.
In view of the cold weather, the Labour Department reminds employers to take appropriate precautions, such as reminding employees who have to work outdoors or in remote areas to dress warmly, and arranging job rotations between outdoor and indoor or sheltered work as far as possible.
Employees are advised to take note of the weather updates, wear appropriately warm clothing, and be mindful of their health conditions. Anyone feeling unwell should take a break immediately, notify their supervisors, and seek medical help.
