Deepavali 2024: Eligible drivers in Malaysia to enjoy toll-free travel on most highways till 11.59pm on 30 October

This is applicable to Class 1 private vehicles, on all highways except at the national border highway toll plazas, specifically the Sultan Iskandar Building Toll (BSI) and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza in Johor.

Malaysia’s government announced on 28 October 2024 (Monday) that toll-free travel will be facilitated for eligible vehicles on 29 (Tuesday) and 30 October 2024 (Wednesday) in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali holiday.

Per a media statement by Kementerian Kerja Raya Malaysia, the toll-free travel will be implemented on all highways starting at 12.01am on 29 October 2024 (Tuesday) and will end at 11.59pm on 30 October 2024 (Wednesday).

It should be noted, however, that toll exemptions will only be given to Class 1 vehicles (private vehicles) at all toll plazas except the toll plazas at the national border, i.e., Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza (in Tambak Johor) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza (on Malaysia-Singapore-Linkedua Kedua Highway)

The Ministry advises those travelling to make the most of this opportunity and plan their journey accordingly to facilitate movement, through the following guidelines:

  • According to the travel time schedule or travel time advisory by the highway concession company;
  • Ensure the vehicle is in good condition;
  • Ensuring sufficient eWallet and Touch & Go Card balances;
  • For SmartTAG users, ensure your Touch 'n Go card is still inserted in your SmartTAG device and ensure that your device has a battery.
  • Contact the LLM Traffic Management Centre at 1-800-88-7752 to get the latest information on traffic conditions or assistance while on the highway, and
  • Check the traffic status or any incident on the highway that will be updated on the official social media of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) on the Facebook or on X periodically.
