A 10% salary adjustment also applies to eligible employees, as part of a new Collective Agreement signed with the company's workers' union.
Genting Malaysia (GENM) has signed the 14th Collective Agreement (CA) with the GENM Workers'Union, raising the monthly minimum wage for its employees to RM,1800, according to Bernama. This is effective 1 August 2025 through to 31 July 2028, covering all GENM staff who are legally employed.
The raise brings the company's minimum wage above the statutory rate of RM1,700.
In a Facebook post on Monday, (2 December), the Ministry of Human Resources said the CA includes the coordination of workers' rights, improvement of employment conditions and long-term cooperation between the employer and the union. Minister of Human Resources Steven Sim also affirmed that such agreements have become "an important foundation in creating a stable and progressive work environment, alongside encouraging mature social dialogue between employers and employees."
As reported by Bernama, the agreement also includes:
- A 10% salary adjustment for eligible employees. Backdated payments for August to October 2025 are said to have been dispersed on Sunday (30 November),
- Annual salary increment adjustments,
- Enhanced death benefits,
- Revised allowances,
- Expanded medical and outpatient benefits for employees and their immediate family members, and
- Enhanced reimbursement for transforportation related to medical treatment.
To that effect, as Bernama reported, Minister Sim has reminded employers to avoid using the statutory minimum wage as a benchmark for starting pays, stressing that it is only intended for the most basic jobs and low-skilled jobs.
