Hong Kong Airlines raises fuel surcharge from 12 March 2026

Further, in view of the developing situation in the Middle East, Cathay Pacific continues to cancel daily passenger flights to Dubai and Riyadh.

Hong Kong’s aviation industry is adjusting operations as tensions in the Middle East continue to unfold.

In response to rising international oil prices, Hong Kong Airlines has announced an increase to its fuel surcharge effective 12 March 2026.

Following the adjustment, the fuel surcharge for flights departing Hong Kong SAR to Mainland, Taiwan, Japan, as well as Europe and North America, will increase to HKD190, HKD182, HKD212, and HKD739 respectively.

The fuel surcharge for inbound flights to Hong Kong will also rise.

For routes not listed above, the updated surcharge will be USD33.50.

On the other hand, another major local carrier Cathay Pacific has yet to implement any surcharge adjustments. However, at the company's results press conference on 11 March 2026, CEO Ronald Lam stated that details of the upcoming changes will be announced soon. For now, Cathay Pacific's fuel surcharges remain between HK$142 to HK$569.

Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific continues to suspend daily passenger and freighter flights to Dubai and Riyadh up to and including 31 March 2026. To meet growing travel demand to Europe, Cathay Pacific will operate additional passenger flights to London and expand capacity on services to Zurich.
