Enrolled passengers will only need to queue and present their identity documents once to complete both Hong Kong and Shenzhen immigration clearance procedures.
With immediate effect, eligible Hong Kong residents can enrol for the ‘collaborative inspection’ automated channel service and identity-document-free ‘Face Scan’ clearance service at the redeveloped Huanggang Port via the Immigration Department (ImmD)'s ‘HK e-Channel’ mobile application, formerly ‘Contactless e-Channel’.
Under the co-location arrangement, the Huanggang Port will implement a novel ‘collaborative inspection and joint clearance’ mode. Enrolled passengers using the ‘collaborative inspection’ automated channels will only need to queue and present their identity documents once to complete the immigration clearance procedures of both Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Who can enrol?
Hong Kong residents aged seven or above who fulfil the following criteria can enrol for the ‘collaborative inspection’ automated channel service:
- holding a Hong Kong permanent identity card and a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (Home Visit Permit), and who have registered for the Mainland's e-Channel;
- holding a Hong Kong Permanent identity card and a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (Non-Chinese Citizens), and who have registered for the Mainland's e-Channel;
- holding a Hong Kong identity card and a Home Visit Permit, and who have registered for the Mainland's e-Channel; or
- holding a Hong Kong identity card and an Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao with a valid endorsement for travelling to Hong Kong.
Eligible Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above can download the ImmD's ‘HK e-Channel’ mobile application, select ‘Collaborative Inspection’, authenticate their identity via ‘iAM Smart’, and follow the instructions to complete the enrolment.
For eligible Hong Kong residents under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian can complete the enrolment procedures for them using the parent's or legal guardian's own ‘HK e-Channel’ mobile application.
Eligible Hong Kong residents aged 14 or above can also enrol for the ‘Face Scan’ clearance service, which allows immigration clearance without presenting identity documents, when enrolling for the ‘collaborative inspection’ automated channels service.
On-site enrolment also available
All eligible Hong Kong residents can also enrol in person at the e-Channel enrolment offices or self-service kiosks at the Huanggang Port.
Eligible Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above can enrol and complete the immigration clearance procedures of both Hong Kong and Shenzhen simultaneously at the collaborative inspection automated channels.
Mainland visitors holding an Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao with a valid endorsement for travelling to Hong Kong can also enrol on site at the e-Channel enrolment offices at the Huanggang Port for both the ‘collaborative inspection’ automated channels and the ‘Face Scan’ clearance service.
The redeveloped Huanggang Port is equipped with 134 ‘collaborative inspection’ automated channels and 68 traditional manual counters.
The ImmD reminds travellers that they must still carry valid travel documents that meet the immigration requirements of both Hong Kong and the Mainland when travelling through the ‘collaborative inspection’ automated channels.
Passengers can also choose to use the traditional manual counters for immigration clearance.
According to local media reports, the redeveloped Huanggang Port is expected to be commissioned next Monday (12 October 2026).
