IHH Healthcare to cut 0.5% of workforce in Singapore, Hong Kong & Malaysia

Around 380 employees will leave the healthcare group as part of a business support consolidation exercise, with affected staff offered enhanced severance packages and career transition support.

IHH Healthcare is consolidating its business support services as part of a wider organisational transformation, with approximately 0.5% of its 76,000 total workforce set to leave the organisation.

In a media release on 4 November 2026, the healthcare group said the changes will affect employees across Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Some employees will move into redesigned roles, while others will transition out of the organisation.

The consolidation aims to harmonise processes, unlock synergies across IHH's network and direct resources towards areas where they can have the greatest impact on patients.

The move will also complement the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which was announced in June this year. Together, the initiatives will establish a more integrated operating foundation for the group, supporting continuity for hospitals, greater consistency for business teams and a more scalable platform for future growth.

Explaining the rationale behind the changes, Dr Prem Kumar Nair, Group Chief Executive Officer, IHH Healthcare, said the global healthcare landscape is becoming increasingly complex and fast-changing, driven by technological advances, growing healthcare needs and patient expectations.

He added that the group needs to transform the way it works to build a more resilient, agile, and future-ready organisation while continuing to deliver high-quality patient care.

"This is not a decision we take lightly and we are deeply grateful to our colleagues for their contributions. Our priority now is to support them through this transition with respect and resources," he said.

Affected employees to receive enhanced severance and career support

In response to queries by Human Resources Online, an IHH Healthcare spokesperson said the workforce changes involve a combination of separation arrangements, including voluntary separation offers and other employment separations, in accordance with established practices across its respective markets.

The group added that it is unable to provide an exact breakdown of the affected employees.

For employees leaving the organisation, IHH said it is providing support beyond local statutory requirements. This includes enhanced severance packages, immediate access to career transition and outplacement support, as well as a confidential channel for feedback and assistance.

The spokesperson acknowledged the impact of the changes on employees and their families, adding that the group's current priority is to support them through the transition with the necessary care and resources.

Clinical services and patient-facing teams unaffected

IHH said the changes will not affect its clinical services, healthcare professionals or patient-facing teams.

Patients will continue to receive the same quality of care at its hospitals and healthcare facilities.

For suppliers, partners and vendors, there will be no immediate changes to business operations or existing contractual arrangements. Any future changes will be communicated in a timely and transparent manner.
