Get your planners ready! Indonesia has announced its 2027 national holidays and collective leave days, giving employers and employees an early view of the country's working and holiday calendar for next year.

The Government issued the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, which is meant to provide guidance for government agencies and private-sector entities in implementing national holidays and collective leave in 2027.

Under the decree, 2027 will have 18 national holidays and eight collective leave days. It also sets out arrangements for organisations providing essential services during national holidays and collective leave days. These include hospitals, community health centres, telecommunications providers, electricity and drinking-water providers, fire departments, public security and public order services, banks, transportation providers and other similar essential-service entities.

Work units, organisations, institutions and companies providing these services are required to arrange employee assignments during the 2027 national holidays and collective leave days in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The dates for the first day of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha will be determined separately through a decree by the Minister of Religious Affairs.

Collective leave days - FAQs

For employees, collective leave will reduce their annual leave entitlement in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as the provisions in force at the relevant work unit, organisation, institution or company.

Collective leave for state civil servants (ASN) will be implemented in accordance with applicable regulations. For private-sector entities, the implementation of collective leave will be determined by the respective leaders of those organisations.

The Joint Decree states that this takes effect from the date of its issuance.
