As Malaysians prepare to return to their hometowns for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has announced 26 additional train trips to accommodate the surge in festive travel.

The extra services will run from 17 to 29 March 2026, following strong demand that has seen many existing train tickets nearly sold out for the period. Of the additional trips, 18 will be electric train services (ETS) while eight will be EMUPlus services.

According to KTMB, the added services will provide 8,118 seats per day, including business class options, bringing the total number of seats during the period to 105,534.

Across the broader Hari Raya travel window, KTMB will offer 285,714 seats across 70 trips daily, with an average of 21,978 seats available each day.

Passengers can choose between premier class, superior class seating, and sleeper coaches, with 120 beds available per journey. One-way fares start from RM80 for superior class, while sleeper fares range from RM90 for an upper bed to RM95 for a lower bed.

Meanwhile, the northern edition will operate on the KL Sentral --> Padang Besar --> KL Sentral route, with services on 17 and 22 March departing from KL Sentral, and 18 and 23 March departing from Padang Besar.

This service will offer 1,200 seats in superior class, with one-way fares starting from RM70.

Tickets for these special services remain available and can be purchased through the KITS Style mobile application, the KTMB website, or self-service kiosks at selected stations.

KTMB said the additional services are part of efforts to help manage the surge in festive travel, while offering more public transport options during the busy Hari Raya period.

Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys early and purchase tickets in advance, especially for peak travel days. Travellers are also advised to arrive at stations earlier to allow time for security and boarding procedures.
