The new platform integrates data from various sources to provide a clearer picture of Malaysia’s labour market from employment trends to wage levels and skills requirements.
Malaysia has taken a step forward in workforce planning with the launch of the Malaysia Labour Market Data Hub (MyLabourHub), a central platform designed to bring together labour market data from multiple sources to support more informed and responsive workforce planning.
Developed by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) and announced on Tuesday (27 May 2025), MyLabourHub is part of a broader initiative under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) to strengthen labour market information infrastructure and promote inclusive, sustainable, and competitive economic growth.
A central platform for labour market insights
At its core, MyLabourHub is an intelligent analytics platform that consolidates information from traditional sources such as censuses, surveys, and administrative records, as well as emerging data sources including online job portals and professional platforms. The aim of this integration is to allow for more comprehensive and timely analysis of labour market dynamics.
The platform supports stakeholders across government, industry, training institutions, and the general public with relevant, current, and accessible labour market data. It also aims to address key challenges such as skills mismatch and improve employment forecasts through better data coordination.
Among its key functions, MyLabourHub serves as a labour market analysis platform, offering views of employment trends, wage levels, and skills requirements aligned with the current job landscape. It will also play a pivotal role in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of existing labour policies, supporting the development of new ones, and coordinating information across institutions involved in national workforce planning.
Two key modules
MyLabourHub consists of two main modules:
- Interactive statistics and data visualisation module: Users can explore labour market statistics using dynamic tabulations, charts, geospatial maps, and other visual tools.
- DOSM publications module: Provides access to monthly, quarterly, and annual labour market reports, statistical standards such as MSIC and MASCO, technical notes, and analytical papers on current issues.
In total, the platform presents more than 101 key indicators and 128 supporting indicators, structured around eight key themes:
- Labour supply
- Labour demand
- Labour productivity
- Graduates
- Informal sector
- Labour costs
- Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Enhanced features and AI assistant
Beyond data access, MyLabourHub is designed with what DOSM calls a modern, responsive digital interface and a user-friendly content management system. The portal also adheres to principles of data security, confidentiality, and transparency.
In a step toward digital inclusivity, the platform introduces Kayra-GPT, a generative AI assistant developed in-house by DOSM officers. Kayra-GPT helps users find and understand labour market information more efficiently, marking a new approach to how national statistics are accessed and used.
YBhg. Dato' Sri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chief Statistician of Malaysia, DOSM commented: "MyLabourHub is not merely a technological platform, but a manifestation of DOSM's commitment to empowering the people and the nation through data.
"It was developed to address today's questions and shape a more dynamic, agile, and sustainable labour market for the future."
