As of mid-September 2025, around 45% of public service graduate vacancies have been filled, with more than 300 new roles created and a traineeship programme set to launch in October.
In a written Parliamentary reply earlier this week (Tuesday, 23 September 2025), Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister-in-charge of the Public Service, Chan Chun Sing, provided an update on public sector hiring for fresh graduates in Singapore.
Responding to queries by Members of Parliament Pritam Singh and Andre Low, he shared that of the 2,400 immediate vacancies listed on Careers@Gov as of 10 July 2025, about 45% have been filled.
Since then, he added, more than 300 new vacancies for fresh graduates have been created as of 11 September 2025, reflecting evolving manpower needs across agencies.
To increase outreach, the SG Public Service Career Fair was held on 23 August 2025, attracting approximately 1,800 fresh graduates.
To that effect, the minister also announced that from October 2025, the Government will introduce the GRIT@Gov Traineeship Programme to provide graduates with practical skills and work experience. He shared: "We will continue to hire people with the right skills, values, and attitudes to the Public Service, and we welcome capable and committed Singaporeans to come forward to take up the vacancies."
In response to queries on when public sector hiring would be scaled up to support Singaporeans in the face of potential job displacement, including from artificial intelligence, Minister Chan said decisions are guided by a range of economic and labour market indicators such as GDP growth, sectoral performance, unemployment rates, retrenchments, and business sentiment. The Government also takes into account feedback from the ground, he highlighted.
According to Q2 2025 data, economic conditions remain stable, though uncertainties persist due to trade tensions and geopolitical conflict.
