Netflix to eliminate roles in HR, product, tech & legal, affecting about 6% of its workforce

This is expected to involve about 1,000 positions across markets.

Netflix is expected to cut about 6% of its workforce globally â€“ cited as its largest workforce reduction since 2022, according to CBS News. Per the report, which referenced a memo sent to employees, the reductions will impact the product, legal, tehcnology, and HR departments.

Co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters were quoted as saying: "Our business is strong and growing, and we remain on track to deliver our full-year forecast. We'll continue to invest aggressively in high-impact areas to improve our service and further drive growth and innovation.

"Doing that means making focused choices across the business so we can keep delivering for our members, partners, employees, and investors."

The company reportedly declined to add further comment on the layoffs.

According to CBS News, Wall Street Journal was the first to break the news, reporting that the workforce reduction will impact about 1,000 positions. Per a securities filing cited, the streaming service provider employed about 16,000 full-time employees as of 31 December 2025.

HRO has reached out to Netflix for details on the workforce reduction's impact on APAC, and will update this story once receive.
