The Public Service Department has confirmed that eligible officers can apply for flexible work arrangements during the ASEAN Summit this October to manage traffic congestion and maintain service continuity.
Civil servants in Malaysia will be able to apply to work from home during the ASEAN Summit happening from 26 to 28 October 2025, the Public Service Department confirmed on 13 October.
The flexible Work From Home Policy (BDR), outlined in Human Resources Service Circular SR.4.1.2, is designed to balance the operational needs of public agencies with the wellbeing and work-life balance of officers.
Heads of departments are authorised to consider applications from officers living within a 25-kilometre radius of their workplace. The policy aims to help staff manage traffic congestion during the summit.
Eligible civil servants are advised to contact their heads of departments for guidance on applying for flexible work arrangements.
The policy will continue to follow the procedures and conditions set out in existing regulations.
