These digital ‘employees’ reportedly maintain an error rate below 5%.
Following the launch of DeepSeek, the Futian District Government in Shenzhen, China, has pioneered the deployment of its first cohort of 70 AI digital ‘employees’ to assist with administrative tasks of various departments.
Powered by DeepSeek R1 large model, these digital ‘employees’ cover 11 major categories spanning the entire spectrum of government services, which include document processing, public services, emergency management, and business development and investment attraction.
Collectively, they support a total of 240 different government service scenarios.
According to Futian Government Online, with the deployment of digital ‘employees’:
- The time required for customisation has been reduced from five days to just a few minutes.
- The accuracy of document format corrections exceeds 95%, with review times shortened by 90%, and error rates maintained below 5%.
- A first draft of law enforcement documents can be generated in seconds.
- The accuracy of dispatching public demand requests has increased from 70% to 95%.
- The AI investment attraction assistant can increase the efficiency of corporate analysis and screening by 30%, and reduce the analysis time to a few minutes.
- The AI task supervision assistant can boost the efficiency of cross-departmental task assignment by 80%, and increase the on-time completion rate by 25%.
As reported by sznews.com, Gao Zeng, Deputy Director of the Futian Government Service Data Administration Bureau, stated that digital 'employees' are merely auxiliary tools designed to enhance work efficiency. These digital workers cannot make decisions independently, and are not defined as AI civil servants.
“Each digital 'employee' operates under the guidance of a human supervisor, who assumes full responsibility for their actions.”
Gao further noted that the Futian District has introduced China's first regulatory framework for government-assisted intelligent robots. This framework includes a complete set of ethical guidelines, technical standards, application scopes, and safety supervision systems, providing institutional support for the legal and compliant operation of intelligent robots within the government field.
Earlier, Shenzhen has officially launched application services powered by DeepSeek-R1 for all government agencies across the city, becoming the first city in Guangdong Province of China to implement this technology.
The integration of the DeepSeek-R1 model with the government cloud is expected to significantly enhance services. It will provide residents with 24/7 intelligent consulting through the model’s natural language processing capabilities. Additionally, it will support data analysis and decision-making, allowing for the efficient handling of large volumes of government data, among other improvements.
