Up the ranks: Hilti Asia Pacific promotes Stephanie Cheung to Regional HR Director, North Asia - HRBP and DEI Lead

In her new role, Cheung will spearhead talent management, organisational development, and workforce planning initiatives across five North Asia markets.

Stephanie Cheung (pictured above) has been promoted to the role of Regional HR Director, North Asia - HRBP and DEI Lead at Hilti Asia Pacific, effective January 2026.

Reporting to the Regional Head of HR for North Asia, Cheung will lead a hub team and oversee five local markets in the region, namely Hong Kong, China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

In her new role, Cheung will focus on four key priorities:

  • Strategic HR business partnering with key business functions in regional level, including Marketing & Engineering, After Sales Services, and Legal teams to align people strategies with business objectives.
  • Drive talent management and engagement, organisational development, and workforce planning across five markets in North Asia.
  • Lead initiatives for talent attraction, retention, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Oversee Engineering talent programmes to build a strong pipeline for critical roles.

Speaking exclusively to HRO’s Tracy Chan, Cheung shares her vision for the year ahead: "(My goal is to) build a future-ready, engaged workforce that drives sustainable business growth across North Asia.

"(This means) building a strong talent pipeline by focusing on succession planning and leadership development, and embedding agility and resilience into HR processes to adapt to market and business changes."

She highlights talent retention and attraction as the biggest challenges, especially in competitive markets and technical roles within the construction industry.

“The introduction of innovation and new technologies in the construction sector – particularly in Hong Kong market – presents exciting opportunities to redefine ways of working and attract young talent.”

To navigate these challenges and opportunities, Cheung plans to leverage technology and innovation as key differentiators to attract next generation talents, while strengthening Hilti’s employee value proposition to showcase the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and employee growth.
