Amazon launches AWS Asia Pacific Hub, its second corporate office in Singapore

The 360,000sqft hub serves to optimise agile working, learning, and collaboration, accommodating up to 3,000 employees.

The new Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific Hub was officially launched on Wednesday morning (12 February) in Singapore.

Situated at IOI Central Boulevard East Tower as the anchor tenant, in Singapore's Central Business District, the office spans 360,000sqft, with the ability to accommodate up to 3,000 employees.

The launch was inaugurated by Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Digital Development and Information Dr Janil Puthucheary who also gave an opening speech, expressing his excitement on what the AWS Asia Pacific Hub will bring to continue transforming the organisation's customers and employees.

SMS Janil also expanded on the need to continue creating learning and employment opportunities for the people in the tech industry during this time of rapid digital advancements. "Ideas need to be exchanged, collaborations need to be created, and then it comes alive. We will continue to do this, working with industry partners to develop these talent pipelines, tapping on the in depth understanding and the skills and knowledge that are required and the trends driving the change in the tech sector," he added.

The hub serves to optimise agile working, learning and collaboration as AWS continues its business, operations and investments growth within Singapore and in Southeast Asia. With this being Amazon’s second corporate office in Singapore – the first office has been residing in Asia Square since 2021, Amazon is looking to support about 12,300 full-time jobs in local businesses each year.

Speaking at the launch event, Jeff Johnson, Managing Director, ASEAN, Amazon Web Services, noted that with a collaborative spatial design in mind, the hub will enable AWS leaders, industry partners, enterprises, and innovators to connect in one place to advance technology development in Southeast Asia.

Spanning eight floors, the hub will be occupied by more than 100 local and regional teams to support AWS and other corporate functions. AWS customers and partners are also welcome to use the office space for focused co-working sessions, creative brainstorms in special innovation rooms, hands-on workshops or for networking in community spaces. This aims to nurture an environment where ideas can flow freely and for joint innovation to blossom.

HRO joined a tour on the same day to visit some of the key spaces designed for AWS employees:

AWS Executive Briefing Center

The first flagship space built for AWS experts to engage with enterprise customers and partners in various topics such as their cloud journey, provide customised presentations, technical deep-dives and interactive demonstrations of AWS solutions that align with the organisation’s business objectives. The briefing center is set to take on full swing by the fourth quarter of 2025.

Sustainability Gallery

An interactive room to showcase Amazon’s key milestones and commitments is created to highlight the company’s progress from The Climate Pledge, data center innovation and economic inclusion efforts. The space illustrates Amazon’s journey towards a more equitable and sustainable future. In the same vein of sustainability being the core idea of the design thinking process, notable features in the gallery include upcycled door desks and artworks from decommissioned sites.

Candidate Experience Center

Amazon provides a private space for job seekers to prepare and participate in interviews with quiet rooms. The space includes a designated nursing room for new mothers, prayer rooms, and a pantry full of refreshments, aiming to ensure all candidates are able to focus and perform their best.
