By integrating learning, career growth, wellbeing, and AI-enabled talent practices, Avnet is creating an employee experience that empowers its people to thrive in an increasingly complex world of work.
This article is brought to you by Avnet Hong Kong.
For Avnet, a global technology distributor and solutions provider with a 105-year legacy, success depends not only on technology and service excellence, but also on the strength of its people.
“We are committed to building a high-performance culture that embodies Avnet’s core values, across APAC,” affirms Welcome Wang, Vice President, Human Resources APAC, Avnet (pictured below).

“Our people strategies focus on inspiring and engaging our people, enabling and growing our talent, and driving HR effectiveness.”
To navigate a rapidly changing business landscape, Avnet has built an integrated people ecosystem that brings together learning and development (L&D), career growth, wellbeing, commitments to corporate responsibility, and AI-enabled talent practices.
Not only has this approach strengthened Avnet’s people strategy, it has also earned industry recognition, with the company taking home two gold, two silver, and one bronze awards at the recent Employee Experience Awards 2026.
A structured development ecosystem
Recognising that future business success depends on continuously growing workforce capabilities, Avnet has repositioned L&D as a strategic enabler of business transformation and long-term employee growth.
At the centre of this strategy is its ‘Structured Career Framework’, built around three interconnected pillars: leadership, commercial, and fundamental capabilities. Together, they provide employees with a clear and scalable development pathway across different career stages.
Leadership development forms a cornerstone of the framework. Aligned with Avnet’s ‘Global Leadership Development Framework’ which has been localised for Asia, employees are supported through differentiated learning journeys that cater to talent at every level, from individual contributors to senior executives.
Avnet also continues to strengthen commercial and foundational skills through structured, self-paced, and role-relevant learning opportunities, enabling employees to continuously build capabilities for the future.

A culture of continuous learning
Supporting this career development strategy is Avnet's ‘In-House Learning Academy’, which serves as a central hub for professional development and knowledge sharing across Asia.
The Academy combines digital platforms, physical learning experiences, and hybrid delivery models to create a flexible learning environment. Complemented by a dual internal faculty approach with leadership-led programmes and expert-driven knowledge sharing, it ensures rapid capability building and consistent learning quality.
A defining feature of the Academy is its emphasis on business ownership. Key initiatives are co-designed and co-owned by business leaders and the L&D team, ensuring learning remains closely aligned with evolving organisational priorities and real-world business needs.
AI-empowered talent acquisition
Beyond development, Avnet is also applying technology to enhance how talent is identified and hired.
One example is its custom-built ‘AI CV Matching Tool’, designed to automate initial candidate screening with industry-specific precision. By mapping candidate experience against Avnet’s industry taxonomy, the tool supports faster and more accurate talent identification while maintaining data security within the organisation’s ecosystem.
Importantly, human judgement remains central to the hiring process. Standardised behavioural interviews, calibration reviews, and feedback-driven assessments ensure recruitment decisions continue to prioritise fairness, quality, and cultural fit.

Employee wellbeing and purpose at the centre
Underlying Avnet’s employee experience strategy is a commitment to helping employees thrive both professionally and personally.
Its ‘THRIVE’ framework takes a holistic approach to wellbeing, covering four dimensions: mind and body, connection, money, and career. Meanwhile, principles of corporate responsibility are embedded throughout the employee experience through a broader commitment to "People, Planet and Possibilities", encompassing wellness, health, data security, equity and inclusiveness, and community impact.
Looking ahead, Avnet will continue strengthening AI-enabled workforce intelligence, enhancing career pathways, deepening wellbeing initiatives, and embedding principles of corporate responsibility into everyday employee experiences.
“Amidst the rapid rise of AI, we are leveraging emerging technologies to strengthen our commitment towards employees, particularly through our ‘THRIVE’ wellbeing framework, corporate responsibility initiatives, and learning ecosystem,” emphasises Wang.
“We engage the right talent and ensure that they can contribute at work, and can achieve their goals, grow and thrive in our organisation. Our people management approach is globally aligned to ensure consistency towards fostering the best employee experience.”
