The aerospace manufacturer's planned expansion at Seletar Aerospace Park is expected to create new engineering and MRO opportunities as demand for aircraft support services grows across APAC.
Canadian aerospace manufacturer Bombardier is set to nearly double its service footprint in Singapore with a new facility at Seletar Aerospace Park, in a move expected to boost regional aerospace capabilities and create more than 200 skilled jobs over time.
According to a press release published on the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)'s site, the new facility, spanning approximately 250,000sqft, will complement Bombardier’s existing Singapore Service Centre and represents a planned investment of around S$100mn by a local developer.
Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with operations slated to start in the second half of 2028.
Once operational, the facility is expected to offer a range of services including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, avionics installations, aircraft modifications, and 24/7 aircraft-on-ground (AOG) support.
The site is also intended to support aircraft recompletion work, including paint and interior finishing, alongside a new Component Repair and Overhaul (CR&O) workshop aimed at strengthening Bombardier’s turnaround capabilities across APAC.
In addition, the facility is expected to feature customer amenities such as a lounge and dedicated crew rest area.
Paul Sislian, Executive Vice President, Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Aftermarket Services, Bombardier, said the company’s Singapore Service Centre supports approximately 2,000 aircraft annually as regional demand across Asia Pacific continues to grow.
He added that the expansion reaffirms Bombardier’s commitment to supporting customers closer to where they operate, while further strengthening the company’s footprint and service capabilities across the region.
The hiring plans and Bombardier’s expanded presence at Seletar Airport, supported by collaborators including JTC Corporation and EDB, is expected to contribute to the growth of Singapore’s aerospace talent pool.
The development marks Bombardier’s third expansion in Singapore since 2014, seeking to further strengthen the company’s Singapore Service Centre by increasing its capacity and capabilities to support more aircraft across the region. The site currently employs more than 300 local staff, including approximately 250 licensed engineers and technicians.
In addition, Bombardier has joined ASTAR Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre’s (ASTAR ARTC) industry consortium as an Anchor Member to strengthen its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities.
The collaboration aims to focus on digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and automation to improve operational efficiency and support Singapore’s position as a regional aerospace maintenance hub.
Cindy Koh, Executive Vice President, EDB, said the expansion will add new MRO and aircraft recompletion capabilities for next-generation business aircraft while creating 200 new jobs in Singapore.
She added that the collaboration with A*STAR ARTC reflects how companies can tap Singapore’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem to drive innovation in aviation and aerospace.
Meanwhile, Christine Wong, Assistant CEO, JTC Corporation, said Bombardier’s expansion reinforces Singapore’s position as a business aviation hub while supporting quality job creation and strengthening the country’s aerospace ecosystem.
Beyond Singapore, Bombardier’s services business also has a presence across APAC, including a service centre in Melbourne and a jointly owned facility in Tianjin. Singapore additionally hosts one of the company’s Customer Response Centres and its largest regional parts hub.
The company also noted that it continues to strengthen its global support capabilities following the entry-into-service of its flagship Global 8000 aircraft.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Culture, Community and Youth said the development reflects Bombardier’s confidence in Singapore and the strong partnership between both parties, adding that the company has become deeply embedded within Singapore’s local ecosystem.
She noted that since establishing its presence in Singapore in 2013, the company has steadily expanded its investments across maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), fixed-base operator (FBO) services, and business aircraft refurbishment for regional customers.
According to SMS Low, the groundbreaking marks another milestone in Bombardier’s growth in Singapore, with the company continuing to manage and integrate its regional operations from the country.
She added that the new 3.0-hectare site is expected to almost double Bombardier’s MRO footprint in Singapore while strengthening its capabilities to undertake more complex work. The expansion, she said, reinforces Singapore’s position as a leading business aviation hub in APAC.
SMS Low also said: "Bombardier’s expansion will contribute to our local ecosystem by deepening industry partnerships and creating opportunities for our workers."
As part of these efforts, Bombardier will work with A*STAR ARTC on next-generation MRO solutions involving digitalisation, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve operational safety, efficiency, and reliability.
She also pointed to the government’s ongoing Economic Strategy Review (ESR) efforts, noting that Singapore will continue working closely with multinational companies such as Bombardier to ensure the country’s ecosystem remains future-ready.
