Enclustra opens regional HQ in Singapore, targets 100 roles in high-tech engineering and R&D

The company will hire engineers, sales, and marketing staff to support FPGA innovation and local partnerships.

Switzerland’s Enclustra GmbH has officially launched its regional headquarters in Singapore, marking a strategic expansion into Southeast Asia’s advanced manufacturing and innovation landscape.

The new entity, Enclustra Asia, will recruit around 100 design engineers, sales, and marketing professionals. They will oversee technology transfers from the company’s Zurich headquarters, coordinate partnerships with local manufacturers, and work closely with customers to deliver next-generation AI-enabled solutions for commercial applications.

Recently, Enclustra launched its Physical AI-Machine Learning Technology Line in collaboration with SiMa.ai. Engineers based in Singapore will help localise these FPGA-based technologies, adapting high-performance computing platforms for regional needs and speeding up product development cycles. Their work will also support joint innovation initiatives with academic and industry partners, reinforcing Singapore’s role as a hub for deep-tech talent and smart manufacturing.

The talent acquisition will support an estimated US$100mn in contracts that Enclustra plans to outsource annually to Singapore’s manufacturing ecosystem within the next three to four years. Experienced design and test engineers in Singapore will link local manufacturing with global engineering teams.

Candidates with hands-on expertise in embedded systems, product design, and test development will contribute to functional test integration, production quality, and continuous improvement in next-generation technologies.

Key thrusts of the company’s expansion include:

  1. Establishing Enclustra Asia as Singapore’s Operations Centre of Excellence for sales, engineering services, regional manufacturing, and FPGA-based design and development.
  2. Collaborating with Singapore universities on innovation labs, with discussions underway with Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
  3. Coordinating design transfers from Zurich to contract manufacturers in Singapore, expected to contribute about US$100mn annually to Singapore’s export ecosystem by FY2026, with projected growth of 40% per year thereafter.

Enclustra’s Asia Pacific expansion was planned in 2020 as part of a five-year roadmap. Following the opening of its US office in San Diego in 2023, Singapore was chosen for its strong pool of FPGA engineering talent, particularly in semiconductors, embedded systems, and advanced manufacturing.

Phillip Bächtold, CEO of Enclustra, commented: "Our expansion to Singapore and collaboration with Singapore universities mark the next step in that journey. It’s about putting the full power of reconfigurable computing closer to our customers, so they can move from concept to breakthrough faster than ever."

Cindy Koh, Executive Vice President of the Singapore Economic Development Board, added: "Enclustra’s latest investment brings new FPGA-based solutions that will strengthen Singapore’s advanced manufacturing sector, creating more partnership opportunities for our local enterprises and adding 100 skilled roles here."

H.E. Mr Frank Grütter, Switzerland’s Ambassador to Singapore concluded by saying that Enclustra’s investment was more than just an expansion. He added that it would accelerate the development of the advanced electronics sector in the region and reinforce Switzerland’s reputation for precision, reliability and innovation, qualities shared with Singapore.
