Macao to implement crowd and traffic control measures at tourist hotspots during National Day holiday

Immigration checkpoints will also introduce crowd diversion and phased access measures depending on visitor traffic.

To cope with expected heavy visitor volumes at tourist attractions and immigration checkpoints during the National Day holiday, Macao will implement crowd control and temporary traffic measures depending on actual conditions.

Temporary pedestrian zones will be set up in Taipa Village and the Rua de Nossa Senhora do Amparo from 12pm to 7pm daily between 1 and 6 October, with temporary traffic restrictions implemented on nearby roads accordingly.

Crowd management measures will also be introduced around Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Senado Square, Rua de São Paulo, and the Ruins of Saint Paul's, depending on visitor flows. These may include crowd diversion, traffic rerouting, road closures, and one-way pedestrian controls.

At the Border Gate Checkpoint, crowd diversion and phased access measures will be implemented when congestion occurs at the departure hall and other immigration areas. The Hengqin Port will also implement crowd control measures depending on passenger flows.

Authorities urged residents and visitors to follow instructions from police officers onsite, while motorists should pay attention to temporary traffic signs.

Travellers crossing the border are also advised to check real-time information through the Public Security Police Force’s mobile application or website before departure, plan their journeys flexibly, and avoid travelling during peak periods where possible.
