Number of online job postings jumped 108.8% to 588,148 in Q3 2025, DOSM data shows

Demand for talent surged across Malaysia in Q3 2025, led by the services, professional, scientific & technical activities, administrative & support manufacturing, as well as construction sectors.

Online job offerings in Malaysia rose by 108.8% in Q3 2025, reaching 588,148 job postings, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

The increase marks the highest growth recorded since the Q3 of 2021.

At the same time, the number of companies advertising job offerings increased to 77,615 in Q3 2025, compared to 57,666 in Q2.

Dato' Sri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chief Statistician of Malaysia said online job offerings were largely concentrated in the professional category, which accounted for 45.6% of total postings, or 268,178 job offerings in Q3 2025. This is a notable increase from 129,041 job offerings recorded in Q2 2025.

The managers category recorded 100,811 job offerings, followed by technicians and associate professionals with 100,489 job offerings.

Higher demand was observed for advertising & marketing professionals with 40,213 job offerings, followed by managing directors and chief executives with 35,606 job offerings, administrative associate professionals with 30,523 job offerings, administrative professionals with 18,860 job offerings, as well as accountants & auditors with 17,587 job offerings.

Services sector led online job offerings in Malaysia

The services sector continued to dominate online job offerings in Malaysia, accounting for 77.2% of total postings, or 454,225 job offerings in Q3 2025, compared to 64.7% in the previous quarter.

Within the sector, the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles subsector recorded the highest number of job offerings at 164,899.

This was followed by professional, scientific and technical activities (61,367), administrative and support service activities (44,928), manufacturing (41,303), and construction (39,039).

TVET, STEM, and critical occupations saw steady demand

In terms of occupation groups within Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), project managers recorded the highest number of job offerings at 5,780, followed by technicians (5,296) and marketing executives (4,732).

For Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) roles, technicians recorded 5,296 job offerings, followed by quantity surveyors (3,604) and account managers (3,119).

Meanwhile, under the Critical Occupations List (COL), managing directors and chief executives recorded the highest number of job offerings at 8,507, followed by advertising & marketing professionals (8,268) and accountants & auditors (8,044).

Overall, online job offerings in Malaysia increased in Q3 2025, with more companies advertising vacancies and demand seen across sectors and occupations.
