Republic Polytechnic (RP) has partnered the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturer’s Advisory Council (BMAC) to launch a Talent Advancement Programme (TAP) to equip students with the skills and experience needed to succeed in the growing biopharmaceutical sector.
This initiative is deemed as the first by a local polytechnic, designed to prepare students to gain hands-on experience and develop in-demand skills for the expanding biopharmaceutical industry.
This programme was a key component of Republic Polytechnic's Open House 2025 earlier this month, providing prospective students with valuable information about career opportunities in the biopharmaceutical sector. The programme offers students a comprehensive 36-week internship during their final year, providing in-depth exposure to leading biopharmaceutical companies.
This hands-on experience aligns with the Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Skills Framework, enhancing students' expertise and making them highly attractive to employers. Additionally, TAP includes opportunities for multi-departmental rotations and participation in industry-driven projects, equipping students with practical insights into global biopharmaceutical operations.
Starting from Academic Year (AY) 2025, nearly 360 Year Two students from relevant science and engineering diplomas will be eligible to apply for TAP. This number is expected to increase to approximately 1,000 by the AY 2027, following a curriculum revamp across nine diplomas.
Commenting on the programme, Jeanne Liew, Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Republic Polytechnic stated: “The Talent Advancement Programme not only bridges the gap between education and industry but also empowers our graduates to thrive and be adept in an increasingly competitive world.”
