More than 10,000 employees with children under age 18 are expected to benefit from three extra days of paid leave, effective immediately.
Trip.com Group has announced an expansion of its childcare leave policy, providing employees with an extra three days of paid leave for parents with children under 18 years old. This move, effective immediately, is set to benefit more than 10,000 employees worldwide, as part of the company’s continued commitment to supporting work-life balance for working parents.
The new initiative comes as part of Trip.com Group’s broader family-friendly approach, which includes childcare subsidies, hybrid work options, and on-site childcare support. The added leave aims to ensure that employees can better balance their professional and parental responsibilities, with the policy now covering all stages of parenthood, even for parents of older children. Previously, the entitlement varied by country depending on local regulations, but the new global policy provides consistent support for all eligible employees across markets.
"Raising a child requires more than just financial support—it involves time, care, and a strong support system," a Trip.com HR spokesperson shared, adding that by enhancing its childcare leave policy, the Group aims to give parents the flexibility they need to be present for their children while maintaining their careers."
Employee reactions to the policy have been positive. For instance, Bingxing Zhou, a Shanghai-based employee, expressed her appreciation for the extra leave, saying, "I'm glad I can spend more time with my kid doing meaningful things, while still maintaining a balance with work."
Other employees echoed similar sentiments, noting that the policy addresses the needs of parents beyond the newborn phase. Jessica Lai from the Singapore office stated, "It shows the company understands that parents need time and flexibility to care for their kids even at later stages.”
In 2023, the company allocated approximately US$137.6mn for childcare subsidies, which it says has supported more than 1,130 employees worldwide. These subsidies help cover essential expenses such as formula, diapers, and healthcare for children under the age of five.
The company’s broader focus on employee wellbeing is also reflected in its hybrid work policies, which have saved an estimated 900,000 commuting hours globally, benefiting families and contributing to reduced traffic congestion.
Trip.com added that its efforts have resulted in near 100% return rates for female employees after maternity leave, highlighting the effectiveness of its policies in supporting career development and workplace equality.
By continuing to invest in family-friendly policies, Trip.com Group aims to set a strong example for other companies, showing that prioritising work-life balance and employee wellbeing leads to a more productive and satisfied workforce.
