He will take over from John Ng, who will remain on the company's Board as a Director after leading the integrated energy group through a period of significant business and infrastructure developments.
YTL PowerSeraya has named Lim Han Kwang (pictured above) as its incoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with the appointment taking effect on 1 January 2027.
He will succeed John Ng, who will step down from the CEO position but continue serving the Group as a Director on the Board of YTL PowerSeraya.
As Director, Ng will continue to contribute his industry knowledge, professional experience and strategic counsel to the Board, supporting the company's long-term direction and growth.
The leadership transition comes as YTL PowerSeraya advances its next phase of growth and supports Singapore's energy transition.
John Ng's leadership and contributions to the energy sector
Ng was appointed CEO of the YTL PowerSeraya Group in January 2019, returning to an organisation he had been associated with since its earlier days as part of PUB. He previously served as the company's CEO from 2009 to 2013 and brings more than four decades of commercial and operational experience across Singapore's energy sector, including his former role as CEO of Singapore LNG Corporation.
During his leadership, YTL PowerSeraya recorded three of its most profitable financial years, acquired the 396MW Taser Power Plant in 2022 and secured the first Request for Proposal award under the Energy Market Authority's Centralised Process to develop a 600MW hydrogen-ready combined cycle gas turbine at its Pulau Seraya Power Station site. Beyond business developments, Ng also worked with the Union of Power and Gas Employees to advance workers' wages, welfare and employment prospects, and contributed to various national organisations, including the Employment and Employability Institute, Workplace Safety and Health Council and PUB.
His contributions were recognised through several awards, including the NTUC May Day Awards' Meritorious Service Award in 2024 and the Public Service Star at the National Day Awards 2025.
Lim Han Kwang brings more than 23 years of industry experience
Lim's appointment follows a transition process that began in 2024, when he was promoted to Deputy CEO of YTL PowerSeraya while continuing to serve as CEO of Geneco.
He brings more than 23 years of commercial and regulatory experience across Singapore's electricity and gas markets, covering policymaking, performance management, power generation, retail, and transmission and distribution.
His career has included leadership and industry roles at organisations such as the Energy Market Authority, Singapore Power and Sembcorp Industries.
He rejoined YTL PowerSeraya in July 2020 as Group Head of Strategy and Risk Management before being appointed CEO of Geneco in 2022. Under his leadership, Geneco grew to become Singapore's No. 1 residential electricity retailer. The company also strengthened its engagement with commercial and industrial customers across the country.
Outside YTL PowerSeraya, Lim serves as a Board Member of the Energy Studies Institute. In his new role, he will oversee the Group's three subsidiaries: Geneco, its electricity retail arm; PetroSeraya, its tank management arm; and Taser Power, which operates the Taser Power Plant.
Commenting on the leadership change, Tan Sri (Sir) Francis Yeoh Sock Ping, Chairman of YTL PowerSeraya and Executive Chairman of YTL Power International Berhad, expressed appreciation for Ng's leadership and contributions to the Group.
He highlighted Ng's role in strengthening the company's generation portfolio and advancing investments to support Singapore's energy transition, adding that his contributions extended beyond financial performance.
Tan Sri Yeoh also welcomed Ng's continued involvement as a Director, allowing the Group to benefit from his experience and guidance.
On Lim's appointment, he said his understanding of Singapore's energy landscape, regulatory and commercial experience, and leadership at Geneco would position him to lead YTL PowerSeraya's next phase. He added that the succession reflected the Group's focus on continuity, disciplined execution and long-term value creation.
Ng said it had been a privilege to lead YTL PowerSeraya and work alongside colleagues committed to the company, its customers and Singapore's energy future.
Reflecting on his time with the organisation, he highlighted the Group's performance, expansion of its generation capabilities and investments in infrastructure to support a more secure and sustainable energy future. He added that he looked forward to continuing to contribute to the Group as a Director and supporting Lim and the leadership team through the transition.
Lim said he was honoured to take on the responsibility of leading YTL PowerSeraya, acknowledging Ng's contributions to the company and the wider energy sector.
Looking ahead, he said: “As we move forward, my focus will be on building on the strong foundation established by John and the team, while advancing YTL PowerSeraya’s role as a trusted integrated energy company that supports Singapore’s evolving energy needs, strengthens operational excellence and contributes meaningfully to the nation’s net zero journey.”
