Close to 8 in 10 SIT Class of 2024 graduates attained full-time employment post-graduation

Additionally, the median monthly salary for SIT graduates in full-time permanent employment rose to S$4,200 in 2024, up from S$4,000 in 2023 and S$3,950 in 2022.

About 87% of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) graduates were employed within six months and nearly eight in 10 (79%) in full-time permanent positions, according to the university's 2024 Joint Autonomous Universities Graduate Employment Survey (JAUGES).

This stands similar to last year's performance, wherein nine in 10 Class of 2023 graduates gained employment within six months of graduation.

In particular, SIT’s health and social sciences graduates had the strongest overall employment rate of 98%, reflecting the healthcare industry’s strong hiring demand. Notably, those from the radiation therapy, diagnostic radiography, and dietetics and nutrition programmes achieved 100% overall employment.

In addition to strong graduate employment outcomes, the median monthly salary for SIT graduates in full-time permanent employment rose to S$4,200 in 2024, up from S$4,000 in 2023 and S$3,950 in 2022, that the university said highlights a steady three-year upward trend that signals continued employer demand and confidence in SIT-trained talent.

Graduates from several programmes saw notable increases in their median monthly salaries. In particular, accountancy graduates posted a significant salary increase of close to 19%, from $3,620 to $4,300. In the engineering cluster, graduates from the joint SIT-Newcastle University Chemical Engineering and Electrical Power Engineering degree programmes both gained a significant increase in median salary from S$4,000 to S$4,400.

93% of SIT graduates in full-time permanent employment were employed in jobs related to their course of study

Beyond overall employment outcomes, the 2024 graduate employment data highlights the sustained success of SIT’s graduates in securing roles aligned to their course of study, with 93% of SIT graduates entering full-time permanent employment that were related to their course of study –– maintaining the 93% achieved in 2023 and an increase from 91% in 2022.

This success is particularly evident among SIT’s infocomm technology (ICT) (software engineering) graduates, where 98% of them found jobs related to their course of study.

Similarly, graduates from both the ICT (information security) and computer science in real-time interactive simulation (RTIS) degree programmes recorded high proportions of graduates in related jobs – 98% and 94%, respectively. ICT (information security) and computer science in RTIS graduates also commanded high median gross monthly salaries of S$5,100 â€“ which the university called a reflection of the strong market value placed on their skills and expertise.

SIT President, Professor Chua Kee Chaing, commented: "As industries evolve, we continue to stay true to our mission to nurture graduates who are not only competent in their disciplines, but also agile, adaptable and resilient.

"The steady employment outcomes and salary growth seen in the survey of the Class of 2024 reflect the value of our applied learning approach and the trust our industry partners place in SIT and our graduates. At the same time, we recognise that some graduates may find it challenging to secure full-time employment amidst current economic uncertainties."
