Despite the office closure, CNBC said editorial coverage of Hong Kong and the wider region will continue through its regional reporting network.
CNBC is closing its Hong Kong office and cancelling several daily programmes as part of a broader restructuring of its international programming and production operations.
According to a statement reported by Bloomberg, the broadcaster has cancelled Inside India, The China Connection, and Europe Early Edition. Feature programmes CNBC Meets and Built for Billions will also come to an end.
The changes follow Comcast's decision to spin off its cable television networks, including CNBC and MS NOW, into a new entity, Versant Media Group, at the beginning of 2026. CNBC also underwent a newsroom reorganisation earlier this year that resulted in layoffs.
According to statements cited by multiple media outlets, including South China Morning Post and The Straits Times, CNBC's international editorial operations will continue to be led from London, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Beijing.
A company spokesperson added that editorial coverage of Hong Kong and the wider region would continue through CNBC's broader Asia reporting network despite the closure of its Hong Kong bureau.
Human Resources Online reached out to CNBC for further information regarding the number of employees affected and any support measures being provided to impacted staff. In response, CNBC said it was unable to provide an answer at this time.
