The Australian tea retailer will close its three stores across Singapore, while continuing to serve customers online and through wholesale channels in the region.
Premium Australian tea specialist T2 Tea will be closing all of its retail outlets in Singapore.
The brand, founded in 1996 in Melbourne, currently operates three stores in Singapore, located at 313@Somerset, Suntec City, and VivoCity. Its first flagship store in the city-state opened in 2017 as part of its broader expansion into Asia.
In a statement to Human Resources Online, a T2 spokesperson confirmed that its Singapore stores will close at the end of March as current leases reach their conclusion. While the last day of operations wasn't shared with HRO, it is set for 25 March, as reported by The Business Times (BT).
The company said it is reviewing and resetting its Asia retail property portfolio, which remains an important growth area. Customers will continue to be able to shop T2 online and through wholesale partners while the brand explores future retail opportunities.
From a workforce perspective, the company said Singapore "remains an important part of the T2 community", with the Singapore Breakfast tea continuing to be one of its most-loved blends. It will remain available online. T2 also plans to launch a special Singapore Breakfast tin and mug in collaboration with a Singapore-based artist later this year.
"We are grateful to our Singapore team for their passion and dedication in bringing the T2 brand to life over many years, and our priority is supporting them through this transition," the spokesperson said.
All three outlets are currently holding clearance sales, with products offered at 30% off ahead of the closures, according to BT.
